Hi there! This week we’ve been talking about wealth mindsets, pricing and how to get your salon income flowing again. With the current climate we are in, having a good mindset about money is so important for our success in the future.

In this post I have compiled together everything we have talked about on social media… including a blog on how to raise your prices, videos on how your mindset is key to success, and a #salonownershare, where we give salon owners the opportunity to ask questions and get answers from other salon owners.

Enjoy!

Money has stopped flowing… what you can do to get it starting again

Do you recognise that your feelings and thoughts around money, wealth, poverty, abundance and success all play out in your everyday life?

Do you take ownership of your circumstances?

I saw a comment this week that said if a salon owner is struggling right now, that it was their fault and that a simple lack of planning was the reason… that they should have put away for a rainy day and they were bad at business if they hadn’t.

Now, no matter how much this statement triggers you or whether you believe it to be true, being good with business and handling uncertainty affects us all differently and not everyone is cut out for the rollercoaster ride that is business ownership.

I like to work with facts… what is true 100% of the time, otherwise it is just perspective

So let’s look at that perspective. The only certain thing about it is that there are business owners struggling right now… salons that can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel or are hoping on a prayer that they will be able to survive and rebound once they can get an income flowing again.

  • Is it their fault? Perspective
  • Bad at business? Perspective
  • Lack of planning? Perspective
  • Blaming those as reasons? Perspective

It is true that the more vulnerable businesses that were not doing so great before all this will suffer more. If they were just getting by before, what is going to change?

If making a decent profit and living your dream as a salon owner wasn’t working out for you before, how likely is that going to happen now in this crisis?

I realise for some of you these truths will be hard to hear. SO many salons just scrape by. So many owners are stuck and just managing with a barrage of problems from attracting customers, demanding teams, lack of structure and a generally reactive business model.

So what do salons look like that will ride this wave and survive the shutdowns and limited operating? What do these salon owners do differently?

Yes, they will have structure, business systems, preparedness and a leadership system in place to mitigate the peaks and troughs that is business on the daily regardless of crisis, but…

The most important principle they understand is that a healthy wealth and success mindset is non-negotiable.

Generating money needs an abundance mindset. Creating wealth and success is not the outcome of victims and passive, reactionary leadership

Look at the brands that are making a success out of this crisis.  For example, luxury designers such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci and Prada have promised to produce millions of face masks primarily in high-risk areas such as Italy and France. Even H&M and Zara have begun to take steps to switch their textile manufacturing over to making health materials.

That is not passive or reactive, that is the action of proactive, adaptive leadership.

So let me ask you, what have you done to look at your mindset around what you can do rather than what you can’t? What is your business going to look like on the other side of this? What can you implement to make sure you are not a casualty?

What is 100% true for you right now?

What is a fact about your business, not a perspective or opinion… just a fact? Something that is 100% true right now.

Then go ahead and make a solid decision around that fact and see where your mind goes. Are you making a wealth and success based decision?

In my new video, I explain how this looks for me and ways that you can up your game when it comes to being adaptive in your thinking.

What is a fact about your post-COVID prices?

What do you feel is the right choice when it comes to pricing your services in the post-crisis salon world? Are you all for offering deals or hiking prices up?

In a world of perspectives and opinions, you can find people that will have feelings about both. Which is right for your business?

What you resist persists

What you resist persists and being stuck right now could mean your business won’t survive post-crisis.

The successful businesses you look up to and admire are adapting and being vision focused. Are you?

BLOG: How to raise your prices

I feel we have a real problem generally within our industry around pricing our services. We seem to put ideas in our customers’ heads and in their wallets.

In this week’s blog, I am talking about pricing… how you are the block that is holding back your business when it comes to generating income. Get some solid money mindset principles in place to charge what you are worth! Click HERE to read it.

#salonownershare

This week we’re talking putting up your prices.

Here were some of the responses…

  • I am putting mine up, clients understand it’s business. X
  • No one will notice the price change… look at supermarket price changes…..do what’s best
  • I’m keeping prices same as will be busier than normal as everyone overdue
  • Having the correct prices is the most important thing that any business can do. It’s not just clawing back money, its gathering money for the debt that is building and will continue to build even after you are open. Correct pricing is essential. EVERYONE WILL HAVE NOTICED THAT WE HAVE A PROBLEM, people will expect you to react to it.
  • I wouldn’t do it immediately but I would announce the date that prices will rise on the first day back. I generally give 3 months notice

Let me know in the comments what you thoughts are on raising prices.

This week we’re talking to Tarah, a hair salon owner from Georgia, USA.

“After listening and implementing your training and new way of thinking, my first post on social media received more comments on one post than any in the last 2 years …

I have really enjoyed and learned so much. It’s [Customer Attraction Mastery] so full of info that I had no idea. It’s like an introduction to a whole new way of thinking.”

We only know what we know and can only see what’s visible. We struggle to imagine what could come next without the light being shone on a dark path.

Remember how daunting cutting someone’s hair seemed when you were just learning how to do it. Everything we will learn as salon business owners is the same.

One of our students, Tarah, was open to new ways of thinking and learning and she got extraordinary results, simply because she was coachable. Are you?
